Key Event Description
Lymphocytes found throughout the airway and lung parenchyma are involved in the airway acute inflammation involving both innate and adaptive defenses
Epithelial cells produce TNF-α, and other cytokines to recruit inflammatory cells onto the site of inflammation.
How It Is Measured or Detected
Mice are exposed via inhalation, daily for 3 consecutive days, and subsequently lymphocyte proliferation in draining (mandibular) lymph nodes is measured.
Alternatively, cytokines can be measured with elisa.
