Adverse Outcome Pathways in Primary Producers
AOP Collection · Submitted · Created by Li Xie (send email)
- Purpose
- This collection brings together Adverse Outcome Pathways that directly apply to primary producers, including algae, cyanobacteria, aquatic plants, and terrestrial plants. Direct effects come first. The collection covers pathways in which chemical or physical stressors disturb photosynthesis, energy production, growth, reproduction, or population persistence in photoautotrophic organisms. Grouping these AOPs in one place should make shared key events easier to compare and reveal gaps where primary-producer biology remains poorly represented in the AOP-Wiki.
- Creation Strategy
- Candidate AOPs were identified by searching titles, full text, key events, and taxonomic applicability for terms related to algae, cyanobacteria, phytoplankton, aquatic plants, terrestrial plants, photosynthesis, photophosphorylation, chlorophyll, growth inhibition, reproduction, and population decline. An AOP is included when its stated domain of applicability covers a primary producer or when the pathway contains biological events specific to photoautotrophic organisms. These may include damage to photosystems, reduced light harvesting, impaired carbon fixation, altered chlorophyll production, decreased plant or algal growth, reduced reproduction, and declining population growth. Exclude pathways in which primary producers appear only as an exposure medium, food source, or indirect ecological consequence. OECD status does not affect eligibility.
- Creation Strategy Notes
Candidate AOPs were identified through searches of titles, full-text content, key events, and taxonomic applicability. The initial collection contains AOPs 245, 324, 326, 386, 389, 567 and 657. The collection may be revised as new AOPs are added or the biological applicability of existing AOPs is updated.
